WEATHER: Weekend Brings First Large Storm of 2015

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Despite a bright, quiet start to the new year, we won't have to wait long for our first large system.
The same storm that made headlines for producing severe wind and rare snow in southern California and Las Vegas becomes the big story for the Delaware Valley this weekend. However, it's primarily a rain producer for us.
Here's the timing.
Most of the daylight hours stay dry Saturday, but rain starts to move in from the southwest toward evening. *The Poconos may see a little snow mixing in initially, but warmer air will take over and turn any wintry precipitation over to rain. Sunday is essentially a washout. Expect rain at least until the early afternoon, though it will taper gradually.
Along with the precipitation, we have to address the temperatures...get set for a HUGE swing! Sunday easily spikes into the upper 50's as we sit between the storm's warm and cold fronts (the warm sector). But as the cold front sweeps through, we end up with a significant thermometer nosedive by Monday. Our daytime highs drop right back into the mid 30's, with a vicious wind chill to boot. Skies will however be clearing by this point.
In the meantime, high pressure keeps us in the sunshine through Friday with a relatively seasonable chill in the air.
