Weather Halts Play At US Open, Play Will Resume At 12:10pm
ARDMORE, Pa. (AP) — Officials say play will resume at 12:10 p.m. at the U.S. Open after a delay of 3 hours, 34 minutes due to a drenching thunderstorm.
The first round had been under way less than two hours Thursday when the horn sounded, signaling the approach of the storm and sending players and spectators scurrying for cover.
Players returned to the practice areas around 11 a.m.
Ian Poulter held the lead with three birdies in three holes when play was stopped.
