Weather Blog: Summer Sends A Dear John Letter To Everyone
By Carol Erickson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Summer is moving on and plans to be packed up completely by Monday night.
Dear John (and everyone else), you are on your own. Say goodbye to our good times, the fully clothed dipping in the neighbors above ground pool, the crack of a baseball through the dusty window, the smell of tofu roasting on the grimy grill.
But you didn't appreciate every day of Summer's heat and humidity, did you? You even complained about Summer sometimes, something you swore to Winter you never would. Now see what you get. Summer's outta here, and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
Dry your eyes, it will do you no good, plus you need to see to get jackets and sweaters off the top shelf in the closet. Oh, and don't trip over the leaf rake and snow shoes on your way out the door.
If you want to visit Summer, get a plane ticket to anywhere south of the Equator. Summer plans to summer there in a few months. Till then, get used to Fall's unpredictable ways. When Fall is good, it is very very good. When Fall is bad – well, let's not rehash old problems.
Summer's parting gift – a weekend to remember, just to make it even sadder.
