WEATHER BLOG: Staying Pleasant
By Justin Drabick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It was a nice start to the weekend with drier weather returning, but high temperatures stayed cooler than average.
Temperatures on Saturday remained around 5 degrees below average with most locations not getting out of the 60s. The reason for the cooler air mass is a jet stream trough digging in from the Great Lakes region.
This is bringing a cool pocket or Canadian air into the Midwest and Northeast, remaining in place over the Delaware Valley on Sunday with a weak disturbance moving through it. The disturbance could trigger an isolated shower or sprinkles Sunday afternoon with high temperatures similar to Saturday in the 60s to near 70.
The jet stream tough will once again remain in place on Monday before lifting out on Tuesday. Expect both high and low temperatures to remain cooler than average for the start of the work week.
Warmer temperatures will begin to return on Tuesday through the end of the week as a warm front move through.
