PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Severe weather moving through the area caused a tornado warning to be issued.

A tornado warning was for parts of Berks, Chester and Montgomery Counties but has since expired.

Met-Ed says there are nearly 300 reports of power outages in Berks County. There are also scattered reports of trees and wires down.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Montgomery and Bucks Counties until 6:30 p.m.

The heat peaks Thursday with a record challenging 96-degree high in Philadelphia. (The record to beat is 98 degrees set in 1994.) Heat indices spike to 100+ degrees.

The stifling warmth can take a toll on our bodies. Take frequent breaks and stay hydrated with plenty of water.

A fresh round of scattered, but locally drenching or strong storms will ignite Thursday afternoon and evening.
