WEATHER BLOG: A Little Snow, Then Arctic Temps

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The weather pattern continues to remain active which is typical for this time of year. A few weak disturbances will move through this weekend providing some scattered snow shower chances overnight. A stronger clipper-type system will move through Sunday evening providing a period of snow. This system is small and fast-moving with limited moisture.
Sunday will start off dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies. Clouds will continue to thicken up through the afternoon with snow developing after 4 p.m. from west to east. The steadiest snow will continue through around 8 p.m. and begin to taper off from west to east around 9 p.m. before clearing the region by 11 p.m. Accumulations of around an inch or two with some isolated 3" amounts are possible, especially in the Poconos.
Temperatures will be mainly in the lower 30s and upper 20s during the snowfall, so untreated surfaces could get slippery. Travel will be slower and low visibility is possible if any heavy bursts of snow develop. Some icy spots are still possible overnight, Sunday and early Monday morning with temperatures well below freezing.
Behind that system, a brief hit of arctic air builds in for Monday through Wednesday with high temperatures a good 10-15 degrees below average in the 20s and 30s with overnight lows in the teens. A larger storm is possible sometime around Thursday with the threat of snow & rain. This will all depend on the track and formation of the storm and current forecast guidance shows a variety of solutions possible.
