Weather: A Stellar Weekend
By Steven Strouss
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A stellar weekend is shaping up and there are plenty of ways to enjoy the great weather with several outdoor activities.
The Philadelphia Science Carnival begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday and temperatures will start cool in the 50s with partial sunshine. The Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival also takes place on Saturday and weather conditions from 12-5 p.m. will be comfortable as temperatures rise into the low 70s. The South Street Spring Festival is a fun way to spend the afternoon and the weather will be nice for that as well.
We could see an isolated shower late in the day, but most areas in the Delaware Valley will be dry.
On Sunday, the Blue Cross Broad Street Run begins at 8:30 a.m. with a temperature of 62 under sunny skies and light winds. The Chestnut Hill Home and Garden Festival also takes place on Sunday and temps by then will climb into the 70s. This will be the nicest day of the weekend but overall both days are winners.
As high pressure moves off our coast Sunday night, temperatures will surge. We are forecasting highs in the 80s early next week and it will feel like Summer on Monday and Tuesday.
Look for mostly sunny skies on Monday with a high of 82. Tuesday will be slightly more humid with partial sunshine and an evening shower or thunderstorm is possible.
At the shore this weekend we expect partly sunny skies on Saturday with a high in the mid 60s. Sunday looks better with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 70s with light wind.
