Weather: A Short Lived Warm-Up As Another Cold Front Sweeps In
By Kate Bilo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a gusty and cold parade day yesterday, the warmer air has finally arrived, though the mercury took it's time getting to the 50's this afternoon!
Unfortunately, this warm-up will be short-lived as yet another cold front sweeps in tomorrow afternoon, plunging us back into a chilly pattern to finish out the week.
For St. Patrick's Day revelers tomorrow, things start off great - we'll see some sun early and with a southwest wind, temperatures will climb into the low 60's by noon! But if you plan to be out and about after work tomorrow, expect a totally different type of weather. Winds will pick up in the afternoon and by 6 p.m., temps will be back in the 40's with a gusty wind from the northwest - it will be a brisk and cold finish to a day that starts so promising!
The cold is then locked in through the end of the week with daytime highs only in the 40's. We are watching a system that will move through the area on Friday - temps are cold enough in the upper levels of the atmosphere to support snow, but snow this time of the year fights an uphill battle. With surface temps in the upper 30's and 40's, plus an arrival time of mid-afternoon (the warmest part of the day), plus a lack of real arctic cold, it will be tough to get snow to accumulate. There is the potential, however - we will continue to watch it and keep you posted.
