Water Main Break Floods University City Streets
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There are several detours after a major water main break in West Philadelphia Friday morning.
The break has closed 38th Street in University City, between Walnut Street and University Boulevard.
According to officials with the Philadelphia Water Department, a 20 inch main broke flowing at least four feet of water underneath a railroad trestle that leads to the I-76 westbound on-ramp and University Avenue. The on-ramp has been closed while crews work to contain the break.
In addition, St. Francis de Sales School on S. 47th Street has been closed due to the water main break. SEPTA's route 30 bus has also been temporarily detoured.
There are no reports of water loss although officials said low water pressure is possible.
