Water Main Break In Conshohocken Leaves Behind Icy Conditions
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (CBS) -- A big water main break in Montgomery County Wednesday morning looked more like someone turned on a snow machine.
The break was reported around 6:30 in the morning on Washington and Cherry Streets in Conshohocken.
Chopper 3 shows the water is turned off, but it left behind icy conditions.
Icicles formed on the power lines above the water main break.
"It looks like the North Pole. It looks like a glacier of ice," says Gregory Lepore. The water main broke on the site of his construction business, Dan Lepore and Sons Company.
Water company Aqua Pennsylvania says a service line ruptured around 5:30 a.m.
The cause is under investigation.
Peco workers were on scene and report no service outages, and water flow, Aqua says, was minimally impacted.
As the cleanup and repairs get underway outside the building, Eyewitness News is told there's even more to do inside, where the heavy water flow has ruined the building's workspace.
Lepore says, "The top of the roof has filled with so much water, thousands of gallons, and it all siphoned or trickled into the building.We've lost documents, ceilings. There's furniture that's been damaged, there's computers. There's a lot of things in there that this water damaged."
Damage that Lepore says will take weeks or longer to assess.
