Water Levels Continue To Rise In Montgomery County
LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) - Flooding is expected along the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers but also along the region's moderately-sized creeks.
In central Montgomery County, that means all eyes are on the Perkiomen and Skippack creeks from Lower Providence Township to Collegeville to Schwenksville.
"It's going to come up quick overnight if it starts pouring. Trust me," said Dennis Stong.
He would know. His property along Ridge Pike in Collegeville was just flooded last October.
"I think this will be all under water if it crests at 11 feet like they're saying. The ground's pretty saturated."
He's already made sure everything is out of his basement. It's the same story for folks who live a little further down the creek in the Arcola section of Lower Providence Township.
"You just take the good with the bad. Living along the river is 98 percent beautiful, two percent bad," said one woman whose home is about 30 feet away from the Perkiomen's banks. "You just have to deal with it."
Folks in Mont Clare are also watching the Schuylkill River rise from Phoenixville. By early Thursday afternoon, the river was already surging with mud and debris.
