Warmth!
There's nothing like 80* weather and Masters Week to get the golf juices flowing, but what are you going to do about that golf swing? Practice or play? How about both?!!!
Instruction
There's a ladies Short Game Clinic tomorrow evening at Paxon Hollow Golf Club and you can find details here.
Honeybrook is partnering with a new PGA Junior Golf League for boys and girls 13 and under. It will enable them to play in team competitions against league teams from other clubs. All the info is here.
I'll get an earful from PGA Professional George McNamara for having this under "Instruction" instead of creating a different category of "Coaching" but here goes: George and three colleagues have banded together to bring a different type of teaching to this area -- a method called Extraordinary Golf.
Instead of the usual golf lesson where you try to absorb the pro's knowledge or try to get into specific positions, Extraordinary Golf begins with the premise that your body and brain are amazing things, and a perfect swing is already inside you. Through increased awareness (and self-coaching) it can be drawn out. The founder of Extraordinary Golf, Fred Shoemaker, was in the area for a recent seminar for Philadelphia PGA Professionals, and we'll hear from Fred on the KYW Golf Report this weekend. It is intriguing stuff, and in this case, a brief video is worth a thousand words:
This coaching foursome -- George McNamara, Mike Caldwell, Meg Donohue and John Poole -- will provide that style of coaching this year at Blue Bell Country Club, as well as at their individual clubs... George and Mike at Brandywine CC... Meg at White Manor... and John at Chester Valley.
Contact info for all four (email and phone) is available at www.SwingWithFreedom.com.
Deal Tracker Tuesday
Speaking of Brandywine, here's a very nice deal that the GolfNow.com Deal Caddy just posted this morning: an Any Time/Day Round, with Cart, at Brandywine CC for $44 (a $77 value). You can buy up to four of them and they're good anytime through the end of May.
Over at TeeItUpPhilly.com we have links to numerous other area deals, from GolfNow to Groupon.
Masters Week also means the online retailers really "bring it" as they try to capitalize on the excitement about a new golf season.
One sale in particular that has some great deals is the TGW.com "Green Monday" sale (that continues through tonight despite its name). Great buys on shirts, shoes and other stuff. More info here.
And as always, there are links to numerous other specials at DealTrackerGolf.com.
