Want To Watch the US Open But Can't Get To Merion? There's An App For That, Too.

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- US Open tickets are tough to come by, so if you can't be at Merion Golf Club -- or if you have to work during next week's championship -- you hardly have to miss a single putt.
There are US Open apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android, all free in their respective app stores.
"People want to interact and engage and we hope that we've provided that for fans," says Amanda Weiner, the US Golf Association's manager of digital media.
She says there will be live video and live leaderboards.
"We'll have hole insights -- using statistics from the field, we'll show you how any given shot impacts a player's score. So if Tiger hits it in the fairway, we'll provide a percentage of his likelihood to hit par or bogey that hole," she says.
And you can get on the fairway yourself with Tiger and Bubba and Rory -- virtually, of course, with a high-def online video game version of Merion.
"The World Golf Tour has gone to the course and transformed it into an online video game," Weiner tells KYW Newsradio. "It's extremely hard -- it's just like playing like the pros."
