Walt Whitman Bridge To Have Intermittent Closures Next Week
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - In preparation for the upcoming redecking of the Walt Whitman Bridge, four existing gantries need to be removed.
As a result, there will be intermittent closures of the bridge beginning Monday, February 28th at 8:00 p.m.
Here is the planned construction schedule:
On Monday, February 28th, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., the eastbound lanes of the Walt Whitman Bridge will be closed intermittently for periods up to 20 minutes.
On Tuesday, March 1st, between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., the westbound lanes of the Walt Whitman Bridge will be closed intermittently for periods up to 20 minutes.
On Wednesday, March 2nd, between midnight and 5 a.m., the entire bridge will be closed intermittently for periods up to 20 minutes. Between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. when the bridge is open, traffic will be restricted.
Drivers who would normally use the Walt Whitman Bridge during the construction are advised to use either the Ben Franklin or the Commodore Barry Bridge.
