Voorhees, New Jersey Under Fire From Protesters Over Geese Population

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A handful of people turned out Saturday morning to protest what they say is the cruel slaughter of Canada Geese along a lake in Voorhees, New Jersey.
The protesters say the Echelon Common Facilities Association of Voorhees hired a private company to round up and likely gas nearly 200 Canada Geese living on a lake in Echelon; likely because the protesters don't know for sure what happened to the geese in early July.
"We believe there are humane, non-lethal methods to utilize in the management of geese," says David Sauder, president of Animal Rights Activists of New Jersey.
Passerby Christopher Schillizzi saw the protest and with a background in biology, and weighed in.
"I think we would all agree it's unfortunate with (that) any wildlife has to be gassed, and frankly the problem isn't that there's too much wildlife. The problem is there are too many people."
