Voorhees Man Charged In Human Trafficking Case
WOODBURY, N.J. (CBS) – An investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office and Deptford Township Police resulted in charges against a Voorhees man for human trafficking as well as promoting prostitution and assault.
The investigation began when a 26-year-old woman from South Carolina called police from New Jersey hotel reporting that she had been held against her will for week and was forced to perform sexual acts with numerous males for money.
The victim was only able to identify her captor as "Lotto." She said he would beat her if she did not comply with his demands.
She told investigators she came to the area with other women from North Carolina and then was turned over to the man known as "Lotto."
Robert Murray, of Voorhees, is believed to be "Lotto." He was arrested when he returned to the hotel.
Murray has been held in custody in default of $300,000 bail.
The woman suffered numerous injuries.
