PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for the suspects and motives surrounding two violent crimes in North Philadelphia's Fairhill neighborhood.
The incidents, which include a fatal beating and a double shooting all within an hour and a half a mile apart, left two men dead and one in critical condition.
The first incident happened shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 2800 block of North Fairhill Street. There, a 53-year-old man was beaten to death, suffering blunt force trauma to his head.
"He was laying in a pool of blood coming from his head on the sidewalk of his home," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.
There is no word on a motive, but there are reports of a male seen running from that victim, possibly with a metal object.
Then, just after midnight in the 2900 block of Waterloo Street, a double shooting.
A 37-year-old male suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso and a 21-year-old also was shot twice in the torso area.
Both men were taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition. The 37-year-old was pronounced dead shortly before 2 a.m.
Homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance video, as crime scene personnel process the scenes.
