Villanova's Wayns Day-To-Day With Sprained MCL

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Wildcats beat Providence on Tuesday night at the Pavilion thanks to a brilliant second half comeback. That comeback is even more impressive when you consider they pulled off most of it with leading scorer Maalik Wayns on the bench because of a left knee injury.
The junior guard underwent an MRI yesterday and was examined by Villanova Team Orthopedist Dr. Rob Good today and the diagnosis is a sprained medial collateral ligament. He is being called "day-to-day".
Wayns missed the final 11:31 of the game with Providence because of the injury. He left having scored just three points. But for the season Wayns is pouring in 17.8 ppg.
The good news is that Wayns will have some time to rest that knee, as the Wildcats are idle until Wednesday, February 15th when they visit South Florida.
