Villanova With Key Big East Game At Cincinnati
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Jay Wright's Villanova Wildcats are on the road tonight to run with the Cincinnati Bearcats.
Villanova is playing good basketball these days, as they have won two straight in blowout fashion - hammering DePaul by 23 last Tuesday and smothering South Florida 68-54 on Saturday. Those wins have improved the Wildcats to 15-9 overall and 6-5 in the Big East.
That conference mark has them tied for ninth with Cincinnati in the 15-team Big East. The Bearcats are 18-6 on the season overall but Cincinnati is struggling a little bit heading into tonight's game. They have lost two straight at the hands of Providence and Pittsburgh.
Sophomore forward JayVaughn Pinkston continues to pace Villanova in scoring at 12.5 points a game. Sophomore guard Darrun Hilliard is second on the team at 11.7 points a contest, but he is the high scorer in Big East games for the Wildcats, as he pours in 14 a night against conference foes.
Redshirt junior guard/forward Sean Kilpatrick leads the Bearcats, averaging 18.2 points a game.
Villanova lost both meetings against Cincinnati last season.
