Villanova With Big Test Vs. #5 Louisville
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Villanova Wildcats will be looking to snap a three game losing streak on Tuesday night, but they will have to earn it as they host the #5 team in the country, Louisville, at the Center.
The Cardinals were actually ranked #1 in the land last week, but a loss to Syracuse on Saturday bounced them out of that top spot. They bring a 16-2 mark into tonight's game (4-1 in the Big East).
The Wildcats are 11-7 (2-3 in the Big East) and last time out they lost at Providence on Saturday, 69-66.
Turnovers could be a big key in this one. Villanova gave the ball away 25 times in that loss to the Friars. Louisville comes into tonight second in the nation in turnover margin, forcing nearly 7 1/2 more a game than they commit.
The Wildcats continue to be paced by JayVaughn Pinkston at the offensive end. The sophomore forward is averaging 13.3 points a game. He had 20 in the Providence loss.
This is a big week for Jay Wright's squad. Following tonight's game, they will get ready to host #3 Syracuse, also at the Center, on Saturday.
