Villanova University Resumes Classes After Massive Power Outage

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Students at Villanova University are back in class today for the first time since last week's ice storm knocked out power to the campus.
Heading back to class on Monday, junior Nick Mascia says he took advantage of a couple of days off.
"Yeah, I went skiing in Lake Placid -- me, my roommate, his girlfriend lives up there so we stayed with her," Mascia said.
Nick also said he's ready to get back to classes, especially after all the days they've lost to the bad weather this semester. The university says they'll meet in the coming days to figure out how to make up that missed time.
As for this closure, university officials say when campus lost power and they realized how widespread the outages were, not knowing how long repairs could take, they decided the safest thing to do was to cancel classes Thursday and Friday.
About 600 students stayed on campus. Generators were set up at some buildings offer those students anything they needed.
Officials say they went door-to-door in all the dorms to make sure everyone was safe. Power was restored Thursday evening.
