Vigil Held For 3-Year-Old Killed In Grays Ferry Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A memorial of stuffed animals now sits in front of the porch where a three-year old girl was struck and killed Friday night by a stary bullet in the Grays Ferry section of Philadelphia.
Hundreds brought candles and balloons to that memorial as part of vigil held just as the sun set Saturday as a tearful mother said goodbye to her daughter, Tynirah Borum:
"My heart is broken. It's really hard. I love you baby."
Tamika Borum showed little anger towards the suspect, 22-year-old Douglas Woods who was arrested and charged Saturday, but spoke strongly about Philadelphia's culture of violence:
"Put down the guns, it's innocent babies getting hit. My baby...three years old, just beginning life and now I have to prepare for her funeral."
About 100 people attended the vigil. Emotional neighbors hoped that this tragedy would be a wake up call for a community that sees them far too often:
"There's a line and a boundary that they're not supposed to cross. Somebody must understand that, you know, I'm not going to act like this, live like this, or be like this. We've got to teach our children."
"Lord we ask that you touch the hearts of these young men who are like walking dead folks. They don't have nothing in them. They're conscience is dead. Lord, we ask that you put some spirit of God in them. That you put a spirit of love in them."
Earlier in the day, many of these same people marched through the streets of Grays Ferry to call for an end to the violence.
