Video: Phillies Honor The Taney Dragons
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- The Phillies thanked and recognized the first Philadelphia team to ever win the PIAA State Title, the Mid-Atlantic Title, and reach the Little League World Series---the Taney Dragons.
All of the Taney Dragons' players were announced by Phillies PA announcer Dan Baker prior the Phillies vs. Nationals game on Wednesday night.
"To the players, coahces, family members, parents---of course, and so many others in the community, you've shown all of Philadelphia, all of Pennsylvania, and all of America what our young people can do when adults do the right thing and work with our children, support our children, love our children, and take care of them each and every day," Mayor Nutter said addressing the crowd. "You are the finest example of that."

"I just want to say that I had the pleasure and honor of getting to hang out with these guys in Williamsport, and what you see here today is the epitome of Philadelphia right here," said Phillies first-baseman Ryan Howard. "You know, I felt like a little kid when I was hanging out with these guys, and they're full of life, full of energy, and just full of fun. So I just want to congratulate you guys. Take it in, look around, all this is for you guys. You guys did something special, so soak it in."
"This has been a great summer for us, for city baseball, and for our home of Philadelphia," Taney Dragons coach Alex Rice said.
Each Taney player then threw out a first pitch to a respective Phillies player, and they all received their own customized Phillies jersey. Appropriately, the Phillies capped off a special night at Citizens Bank Park with an 8-4 win over the Nationals, completed the three-game sweep.
