Victim Struck By Lightning On Ball Field At Delaware County School
GLEN MILLS, Pa. (CBS) – A person was apparently struck by lightning Monday afternoon on a field at Glen Mills School.
Authorities say the strike happened at about 2 p.m. at the baseball field at the school located on Glen Mills Road as severe weather moved through the region.
The unidentified victim was reportedly unconscious on the field and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. He was said to be a maintence worker at the school who was working on the field at the time of the incident.
A school worker told CBS3 Eyewitness News that the storm took maintenance people by surprise, but they quickly got everybody else off of the field and they do believe that the man who was struck is going to be okay.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect for most of the region until 10 p.m.
