Victim Shot During Wilmington Home Invasion, Robbery

WILMINGTON (CBS) -- Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion robbery in which a man was shot early Thursday morning.

According to investigators, three male suspects armed with handguns forced their way into an apartment in the 500 block of South Maryland Avenue in Wilmington just after midnight. Once inside, the suspects ordered three occupants to the ground and removed all of the belongings from their pockets.

The three men later discovered a fourth individual hiding, attempting to barricade a bedroom door. Suspects fired a shot through the door, striking the victim in the hand, and once they were able to gain entry into the room shot him again in the torso before robbing him of his belongings.

Police say the suspects were able to flee the home in an unknown direction with an unknown amount of belongings.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition; the three other victims were not injured.

Detectives are asking anyone with any information in reference to this incident to contact Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 ext. 213. They may also submit tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or online at www.tipsubmit.com.
