Vick 'Making Progress in the Right Direction,' Practicing Today
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - After a Tuesday off day, the Eagles are back on the practice field today as they prepare for Sunday's matchup with the San Francisco 49ers.
Head coach Andy Reid met with reporters before practice and updated the condition of quarterback Michael Vick, who is dealing with that bruised hand he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Giants (see related story).
Reid says the swelling in that hand has gone down.
"I'm not going to tell you it's not tender and how hard he can squeeze the ball and all that," Reid said today at lunchtime. "It's tender, but he's working through it and just trying to get the range of motion back. Right now he doesn't have the complete range of motion back."
Reid added that Vick took part in the morning walkthrough and would practice today.
"I've just got to see how he does here. I'm going to watch him and see how he can function with this thing and then we will see. If he continues to progress, then he will have an opportunity to play (against the 49ers); if it doesn't, we will go from there. But right now he is making progress in the right direction," Reid added.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin continues to make progress from a hamstring strain. Reid says Maclin also took part in the morning walkthrough but was not expected to do much if anything at practice. Reid says Maclin continues to be day-to-day.
