Vick Happy At Training Camp, Allen Ready For Competition

By Ed Benkin

LEHIGH, Pa. (CBS) - The Eagles held their first full squad workout at Lehigh Thursday afternoon.

In a summer without rookie holdouts and contract disputes, Michael Vick is happy to have everybody back at Lehigh.

"It's great to have all the guys here," said Vick, "Everybody is enthused. It seems like they're happy to be here and happy to be around one another."

O.J. Atgowe is one of the newest members of the Eagles after signing as a free agent. Despite playing in Washington for several seasons, Atgowe said it doesn't feel strange wearing an Eagles uniform.

"That's the nature of this game sometimes," Atgowe said, "One year, you're on one side and the next year, you could be on the other side."

Atgowe is expected to compete for playing time at safety. Nate Allen is hoping to remain as a starter at safety, but Allen doesn't mind the competition.

"We always have good competition back there at the safety spot. It's just going to make everybody better and make us better as a unit and as a defense," said Allen.

Tight end Brent Celek left Thursday's practice with a mild knee sprain. The Eagles will hold a pair of workouts on Friday.
