Vice President Mike Pence, Joe Biden Expected To Emphasize Pennsylvania's Importance As Battleground State During Visits Thursday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Pennsylvania becomes a campaign stop Thursday for Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. Both men will be emphasizing the state's importance as a key battleground.

The vice president stepped off Air Force Two at the Lancaster airport, shortly after 11 a.m.

After the fundraiser this afternoon, Pence will then visit a broadband technology company in Malvern, Chester County for a roundtable discussion over the economy. From there, he will then travel to Philadelphia and meet the Fraternal Order of Police ahead of a "Back the Blue" rally.

Last month, Philadelphia City Council passed a budget that cut $14 million from the police. That happened as the city grapples with what could be a record-breaking homicide rate.

Former Vice President Biden will also speak about the economy near Scranton.
