Veteran CBS3 Reporter Walt Hunter To Retire This Week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A mainstay in Philadelphia journalism for more than four decades is retiring.
Corruption. Abuses at DHS. Structural problems at JFK Stadium. MOVE, and the Amtrak crash. Story after story, for 36 years, CBS 3's Walt Hunter worked his deep stable of well-developed sources and got details and information that other reporters wished they had.
And on Wednesday, Walt Hunter will report his final story for CBS 3.
He started there in 1980, and made an immediate impact.
"I can remember a woman out at 32nd and Wallace, one of my first stories at Channel 3 -- who sat in a rocker on a porch dead for eight hours. And nobody noticed. She simply sat there at that boarding home. And we got that boarding home closed down almost immediately."
The 67-year-old Hunter says he wants to do new things, including crisis media training for police and firefighters, teaching, public speaking, and playing golf.
