Ventnor Woman Indicted In Husband's 2007 Murder
VENTNOR, N.J., (CBS) -- A Ventnor woman has been indicted for the 2007 murder of her husband, announced Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.
On Tuesday, 62-year-old Loretta Doyle Burroughs was indicted for murder and hindering her own apprehension in connection with stabbing death of her husband, 66-year-old Daniel Burroughs.
Daniel Burroughs was reported missing in September 2007, when the couple lived in Mays Landing.
While authorities investigated the case at the time, it eventually went cold.
In February 2013, a family member of Daniel Burroughs contacted the Atlantic City Cold Case Unit, and the case was reopened.
Authorities searched Loretta Burroughs' Ventnor home in May 2013, where they found human remains inside a closet that were positively identified as Daniel Burroughs (See Previous Story).
Authorities say that following the disappearance of her husband, Loretta Burroughs moved to Ventnor. She was in the process of selling her Ventnor home to move to Cape May County.
Loretta Burroughs was arrested at the Cape May County residence and charged with murder.
She remains lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $2 million bail.
