Vehicle Pursuit Leads To Gun And Drug Arrest In Delaware

NEWARK, Del. (CBS) -- Investigators say a driver who led police on chase in Delaware had a stolen gun and drugs in his possession.
The incident began at about 3 a.m. on February 8th in the area of Salem Church Road and Old Baltimore Pike in Newark.
According to investigators, a Delaware State Trooper pulled over a car that was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The trooper exited his patrol vehicle, and as he began approaching the Honda, the operator, later identified as Lamarr Anderson, 24, of Wilmington, sped off, turning into the Glasgow Court Trailer Park.
Anderson drove at a high rate of speed before he eventually lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole.
Anderson then exited the vehicle and tried to run away on foot, but officers used a Taser to subdue him and take him into custody.
Investigators say a pat down search of Anderson revealed that he was in possession of a loaded Ruger 45 caliber handgun, which had been reported stolen in 2010, as well as over $1,400 in suspected illegal drug sale proceeds.
Authorities say Anderson was also found to be in possession of 3.5 grams of heroin and 7.7 grams of cocaine, which police say he tried to discard while running from troopers.
Anderson has been charged with Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity, Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 3 Quantity, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Receiving a Stolen Firearm and Resisting Arrest.
He was also charged with multiple traffic offenses.
Anderson is being held at the Howard Young Correctional Institution on $47,503 cash bail.
