Vandals Smash Windows Of Cars In Camden County Towns
AUDUBON, N.J. (CBS) – Police are searching for the person responsible for smashing the car windows of nearly two dozen vehicles in several Camden County neighborhoods early Wednesday morning.
The vandalism happened at about 4 a.m. in the towns of Oaklyn, Audubon and Haddon Heights.
Investigators believe the vandals were driving down the streets while leaning out with an object, possibly a baseball bat, and smashing windows as they drove along.
Investigators say 12 cars in Oaklyn, five cars in Audubon and at least two cars in Haddon Township were vandalized.
Neighbors say they saw someone in a dark-colored SUV smashing the windows early Wednesday morning.
Police are currently searching for the dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep. During the vandalism spree, police say the suspect's vehicle went off the road and struck a trash can that contained paint that was out for collection. The suspect's vehicle, police say, will most likely have a dull lime green paint splattered on its undercarriage, tires and side.
Residents who had their car windows smashed in are now dealing with insurance companies.
Anyone with information is urged to contact police. The incident remains under police investigation.
