Vandals Slash Tires Of 17 Cars In Overbrook
By Steve Beck
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The crime remained the same, but this time the neighborhood has changed.
Residents in the city's Overbrook section woke up Thursday morning to find either their car tires slashed or acid splashed onto their cars. In addition, police say some cars had a sugary substance poured into the gas tank.
According to authorities, 17 cars were vandalized sometime between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. in the 6300 block of Lancaster Avenue.
This latest attack comes on the heels of a rash of vandalism plaguing residents in Northeast Philadelphia. On Wednesday, vandals sprayed acid onto 15 cars in the city's Lawncrest section.
In addition, since October, tires on approximately 80 cars in the city's Mayfair neighborhood have been slashed. On Tuesday, police arrested a suspect in connection with the slashing of nine tires on Cottman Avenue on March 22nd.
It was not immediately known if the vandalism in Overbrook Thursday morning is connected to the attacks in Mayfair and Lawncrest.
Anyone with information is urged to call 911.
