US Airways Workers Pull A Plane At PHL For Charity

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - US Airways employees teamed up today to raise money for the United Way and proved their physical prowess -- by pulling a plane across the tarmac!

It's an annual challenge: which teams can pull the Philadelphia Eagles' Airbus A319 aircraft fifteen feet?

There were 30 teams this year; each team has 20 members.  One team calls itself The Prop Blasters.  Frank is on that team and responds to the good-natured ribbing by another team (The Admin Shenanigans):

"They know what the truth is. They know we are going to dust 'em. Just like the title 'Prop Blasters' says, we're gonna blast 'em away!"

Bob Ciminelli, US Airways' vice president of the Philadelphia hub, is thrilled:

"It means so much to me that all these employees came out to support the United Way. It brings our team together, but more importantly brings us together to help our community."

US Airways employees raised $1.1 million for the United Way last year and hope to do as well this year.  And employees here also hope that no one in the Charlotte or Phoenix hubs beats their times, so they can retain the plane-pulling bragging rights.
