NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The Upper Merion man accused of murdering a 10-month old girl and her grandmother in a failed abduction attempt last month is scheduled for a court appearance in Montgomery County Wednesday morning.
Raghu Yandamuri remains behind bars without bail charged with murder, kidnapping, burglary and related offenses (see related story). His preliminary hearing on those charges is scheduled for Wednesday morning in district court in Bridgeport.
Prosecutors say the 26-year-old man kidnapped Saanvi Venna from her King of Prussia apartment.
Her body was found four days later after an intensive week long search. He's also accused of murdering the child's grandmother, Satyavathi Venna, who fought hard to protect her granddaughter.
Prosecutors believe he tried to extort money from the child's parents whom he believed could afford the ransom. Court papers reveal he confessed to the crimes and told police where they could find the child's body.
