Upper Darby Police Hold Alleged Carjacker In Connection With Corey White Shooting
UPPER DARBY, Pa. (CBS) - Police in Upper Darby Township (Delaware County) are holding a 24-year-old suspected carjacker who could ultimately be linked to the death of a West Philadelphia man who was the target of a Facebook murder-for-hire plot.
Upper Darby police superintendent Michael Chitwood says Alexander Solomon of Upper Darby was picked up and charged in connection with a Tuesday night carjacking of a Chevy Impala in Delaware County. He is expected to be charged tomorrow with the carjacking of the car seen fleeing the murder scene of 22-year-old Corey White of West Philadelphia on Monday (see related story).
Chitwood adds, "He's currently in jail in lieu of $3 million bail. Yesterday afternoon, Philadelphia homicide detectives were in our headquarters, comparing notes and jointly doing an investigation."
Chitwood says his department is only involved with the carjacking and he can't say whether Philadelphia will pursue Solomon in connection with White's murder. Investigators say it's quite possible that the Facebook murder-for-hire plot had nothing to do with White's shooting death.
