UPDATE: Reward For Information On Philadelphia Slasher Expected To Increase
By Walt Hunter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There are new developments in a story first reported by CBS 3.
In an interview with CBS 3's Walt Hunter, 23-year-old Ashley Hackett shared the horrifying moments when her face was slashed by a suspect who ambushed her near her home in the 700 block of S. 9th Street in the Italian Market area early on Sunday, November 11th (see previous story).
The knife, she explained, stopped barely an inch from her throat.
Now, Philadelphia Police plan to double the $5,000 reward we first reported on CBS 3. An announcement is expected to be made that will raise the reward to $10,000.
Hackett's attacker is described as a white male who was wearing a white hoodie. He remains on the loose.
Ms. Hackett and her family will speak to the media at a press conference on Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. to ask for help from the public in providing information to police about the predator, who they fear could strike again.
The victim's purse, which was recovered a block away from the crime scene, is also being processed for possible evidence.
Anyone with information is asked to call the South Detective Division's Special Investigations Unit at 215-686-3013.
