UPDATE: Puppy Adopted After Havertown Woman Admits To Cutting Its Ears Off
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There's good news for a pit bull puppy who had his ears cut off by an abusive owner.
The tiny puppy, later dubbed "Van Gogh," was found near 69th Street Station in October bleeding profusely.
After receiving surgery at Stoney Creek Veterinary Hospital, the Delco SPCA announced on Facebook on Monday that Van Gogh had found a home.
"Van Gogh will be safe and sound for the rest of his days as he has been adopted into the family of SCVH's veterinarian Dr. Johnson!" the post reads.
Kristina Murphy, a 19-year-old Havertown woman, later confessed to cutting off the dog's ears, claiming she "accidentally" snipped one then panicked and cut the other (see previous story).
Delaware County Humane Investigators later removed 10 pets from Murphy's apartment and brought them to the Delaware County SPCA. The animals included two Chihuahuas, a German Shepherd Dog, a Beagle/Yorkie blend and a kitten. Murphy also relinquished ownership of various reptiles and exotic birds.
Murphy is now facing charges of animal cruelty.
