Upcoming Decade Is Promising For Job Seekers In Philadelphia
According to the Philadelphia Business Journal and projections from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the job market for the next decade looks very promising in the tri-state area for fields in health care, finance and insurance, technology and professional services. This information is on track with the job fields that are already the most popular and continuously thriving in the Philadelphia area.
The health care industry has been advertising for positions for licensed practical nurses, therapists and registered nurses. The growth for health care positions is expected to grow as much as 31 percent by 2022. The need for hires is not surprising due to care for aging Baby Boomers, changes in the health care legislation and an increase in preventative care.
Finance and insurance careers are also projected to steadily grow for the next decade. Among the jobs that are in demand in the finance industry are for informatics and big data analysts, actuaries, and Medicare consultants, as well as financial analysts, tellers and computer support specialists. The insurance industry is posting ads for customer service positions as well. Medical insurance rates continue to rise so insurers find a need to reduce risk thus finding a need to build analytical capabilities.
Finally the technology and professional services industry is on a steady rise in the Philadelphia area as well. Some of the positions the employers are looking for include Java experts, business analysts, digital project managers, security, software engineering, finance and sales data analytics. Computer scientists are also in big demand because there are few skilled professionals in this field.
Due to the economy, many companies held off on upgrading their IT systems. Now these same companies are frantically trying to catch up on the latest IT applications and infrastructures.
