Unofficial End To Summer At The Shore Marks A Fall Filled With Discounts

OCEAN CITY, N.J. (CBS) - Overcast skies coupled with a breeze was a sure sign the summer season at the shore has come to an end.
"It's not sunny and bright, but it's still good," said Ocean City resident Ray Mirarchi.
"The suns not out or scorching or anything like that, but it's a wonderful breeze and the water is actually pretty warm," said Betty Norwood.
The Labor Day weekend at the shore got off to a sunny start. Six-year-old Jada Norwood summed up her beach experience in two words.
"It's fun," said Jada as she built a sand castle.
The place known as America's greatest Family Resort did well financially. That's according to the executive director of the city's Chamber of Commerce, Michele Gillian.
"Our beach tag sales are up, are parking revenue is up, are rentals are 20 percent which is really, really good," remarked Gillian.
The unofficial end to summer at the shore marks a fall filled with discounts and special promotions.
Gus Bruno, the owner of Scarborough Bed and Breakfast is offering savings of up to 25 percent for a one night stay. It's part of Cape May County's "boomerang campaign" run by the Tourism Department. The goal is to encourage as many businesses as possible to offer deals that will keep people coming back to the shore after Labor Day.
