Unlikely Business Partners Open Dream Shop In Doylestown After Horrific Accident
DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- They're unlikely business partners.
Annette Coletta and Elizabeth Cellucci's dream came from a nightmarish day.
Four years ago, a metal rod bouncing off Route 55 in South Jersey came shooting right through Annette's front windshield and lodged in her right eye, nearly killing her.
"The next thing I knew my head was killing me. I didn't know what happened. I looked in the mirror and saw my face," Coletta said.
She was flown to Cooper University Hospital, where the married mother of two lost her eye and endured 16 surgeries.
Elizabeth, a divorced mother of four worked for Annette's Doctor.
"No one knew what to do with her because she was the only person who ever survived that type of injury," Cellucci said.
The two of them hit it off right away and struck up a great friendship, forged from the traumatic event.
It was so great, four years later both women would up changing careers and decided to open up a coffee shop in Doylestown called The Zen Den.
"So this is something we did for us," Coletta said.
Neither of them knew anything about the business, but with a shared passion and similar sense of humor they figured it out.
"I always knew there was something out there that was good for me, it just took me a really long time to get there," Cellucci said.
As they get set for their grand opening on Friday, the two women contend their story proves something good can come out of the worst situations.
