Union Travel To Columbus To Battle Crew
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Philadelphia Union will be on the road once again on Saturday, as they travel to Columbus to battle the Crew.
Philadelphia fell to 2-2 in MLS action last time out as they dropped a 2-1 decision in Harrison, New Jersey, to the New York Red Bulls.
"We battled hard, we put ourselves in position to come out with a result and unfortunately, (New York forward Thierry) Henry had a little bit of a moment of brilliance (game-winning goal) and we came up short," Union midfielder Danny Cruz tells KYW Newsradio. "But we learned a lot from it, we've gone over the film and I think we're looking forward to getting back on the field this weekend and turning things back around."
Danny Cruz Interview
Cruz played 61 minutes against the Red Bulls. So far this season he has been banged up, suffering a broken nose and a concussion already. But he says that's not holding him back.
"I'm feeling good," Cruz says. "I've taken a few knocks, but I'm healthy and looking forward to the weekend."
Columbus is 2-1-1 on the season. Last time out, back on March 23rd, they beat D.C. United, 2-1.
"I'm expecting to go there and be playing a good team," Cruz says. "They're playing well right now, I think, and we're looking forward to given them our best on the road and coming back the following week and playing in front of our fans."
That following match will be on Saturday, April 13th, when Philadelphia returns home to host Toronto FC.
The Union and the Crew will get underway at 5:00pm on Saturday.
