Union Ready For Montreal After Lost Night In New England
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – You have to imagine that Saturday night's match against the Montreal Impact can't get here soon enough for the Philadelphia Union as they look to bounce back from Sunday's disaster in Foxboro.
Philadelphia got blitzed by the New England Revolution in that one, 5-1. The match was actually tied at 1-1 early in the second half, but then the Revolution took control, scoring four unanswered goals to coast to the finish line.
More bad news, the Union won't have center back Amobi Okugo for the next two matches because of an accumulation of yellow cards and a red card he was issued against New England.
This will be the second meeting with Montreal for the Union this season. The Impact won the first back on May 25th, taking a 5-3 decision.
This will be a critical match in the hotly contested Major League Soccer Eastern Conference standings. Montreal leads the conference with 41 points, but that's good for just a two point lead over New York and Sporting Kansas City and Philadelphia is also right there, just three points back, in fourth place.
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Kerith Gabriel, the Union's digital media manager, to get some insight into the match with Montreal.
