Union Player, Temple Professor Still Trying To Kick Ebola In The Butt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - As health officials in the U.S. and around the world try to deal with the Ebola outbreak, a Temple professor and Philadelphia Union soccer player continue their efforts to raise money for the fight.
For more than a month now, Union midfielder Michael Lahoud and Temple professor Thilo Kunkel have been taking to social media to try to #KickEbolaInTheButt.
"When we started out with the challenge it was mainly an African problem, but we said back then it's not just an African problem," Kunkel says. "It will spread around the world and this is exactly what happened."
The goal: raising money for Doctors without Borders -- which has been on the front lines of the Ebola fight.
"I think everyone can do something to help fight this virus," Kunkel says.
Inspired by the ALS ice bucket challenge, the way the challenge works is participants try to kick a soccer ball at a friend's rear end in the hopes to raise needed funds and awareness.
