Sources: Union Midfielder Zach Pfeffer Will Return in 2016
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It looks like homegrown midfielder Zach Pfeffer will suit up for the Philadelphia Union in 2016.
Sources tell CBS Philly the club exercised Pfeffer's contract option. He is expected to make around $100,000 next season, an increase from the $60,000 he made this year.
For the first time in his Union career, Pfeffer was a regular contributor in 2015, scoring two goals and adding one assist in 988 minutes of play.
He appeared in 21 games and started 11, but his minutes waned in the second half of the season. The 20-year old Dresher native appeared in just one game from August through the end of the year.
Pfeffer was 16 years old when he joined the Union in December, 2010. He was the first homegrown signing in franchise history. He's spent time on loan at Harrisburg City Islanders and played the entirety of the 2013 season on loan to Germany's Hoffenheim.
