Union Look For Return To Win Column Vs. Crew
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It's been some time since the Union tasted victory - a month to be exact. Back on July 29th, Philadelphia beat New England 2-1 in Chester. Since then, Philadelphia is 0-2-2 and tonight they will hope to end that winless streak as they host the Columbus Crew.
This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season. Back on April 14th, Philadelphia edged out the Crew 1-0, to pick up their first win of 2012. Gabriel Gomez had the only tally in that match.
Philadelphia brings a 7-12-4 record (25 points) into tonight, that is good for 8th place in the ten team Eastern Conference. Columbus is in 7th place, sitting at 10-8-6 (36 points).
KYW's Matt Leon spoke with Kerith Gabriel, Union beat writer for the Philadelphia Daily News, about the match-up. They also talk about the departure of forward Jorge Perlaza, who had been acquired in the deal with Portland that sent forward Danny Mwanga packing earlier this season.
