Union Face Biggest Challenge Of Season Tonight Vs. Galaxy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union will face probably their biggest challenge of the season on Wednesday night when they welcome the L.A. Galaxy to Chester.

The Union haven't played since April 30th when they picked up a point thanks to a 1-1 tie with San Jose. Philadelphia is 4-3-1 and with 13 points the Union is tied for third place in MLS Eastern Conference.

The team has gotten outstanding work in net so far this season from Andre Blake. The #1 overall pick in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft has started all eight games here in 2016, earning two shutouts. His 77.8 save percentage is 4th in MLS. He is a big reason why the Union have enjoyed the success they have to this point in the season.

"I'm definitely pleased with what we have achieved so far," Blake tells KYW Newsradio. "Obviously there is still, I think and the guys all think, another level that we can go to. So we're thankful for where we're at right now, but we're not satisfied and we're going to keep pushing."

Listen to the entire interview with the Union's Andre Blake:

The Galaxy bring a 5-1-3 record into Chester and they are a perennial power in Major League Soccer.

"We respect them," Blake says, "but we don't fear them. We are going to go out and we're going to play together as a team and we're going to stick together and fight and hopefully we'll be able to grind it out."

Blake is really looking forward to the challenge the Galaxy present.

"These are the moments that I really live for," Blake says. "If you want to be at the next level, you've got to be able to perform in situations like these. I think the guys are all excited and all ready for this game. It's going to be a great test. We're ready to go out there and show the league that we have a good team and we're able to do great stuff if we work hard and stick together."

Philadelphia is just 1-6-1 all-time against the Galaxy.

Tonight's match gets underway at 7:00pm.
