Union Agree To Deals With Trio Of Veterans For 2015
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Union announced new deals for a trio of team veterans that will allow them remain with the team for the 2015 season.
The team announced Friday that veterans Brian Carroll, Conor Casey and Fred have each agreed to contracts for the upcoming season.
All three have played a considerable amount of time for the Union considering the team's short history. The trio has combined to play 209 games for the club.
Carroll has served as the team captain for the past two seasons. He has been with the Union since 2011. He is second in Union history in games started and third in games played.
Casey has jumped to third on the team's all-time scoring list in just 56 games. In that time he's registered 18 goals. Casey also won an MLC cup in 2010 and was named the Most Valuable Player of the game.
Fred will return to the Union in a player/coach role. He is an original member of the Union after being traded to the team ahead of the 2010 season. Fred played three seasons for the Melbourne Heat before returning to the Union in 2014. He appeared in 11 games for the Union this past season.
