Unemployoment Figures In Philadelphia Suburbs Below National Average
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) - The nationwide unemployment rate took a dip last month to just under 9 percent but the news is even better in the Philadelphia suburbs where the jobless rates are far below the national average.
In the counties that touch the city of Philadelphia the unemployment numbers ranged from a low of 5.8 percent in Chester County to a high of 7.3 percent in Bucks and Delaware Counties. Montgomery County fell in between.
Jeff Zinser, founder and CEO of Right Recruiting in Blue Bell, credits a stable employment base with a lot of small and mid-size companies that represent a lot of industries. For people still in the market, he says this is a good time for hiring.
"They have to look at it as a process they have to get their resume out they have to continually push that resume onto employer's desks," Zinser said.
He says follow up with phone calls and be aggressive and he says it's not only sales positions that are open. He says the manufacturing sector is a booming suburban industry with medical device companies for example looking for workers to build and ship their products.
