Unemployment In New Jersey Holds Steady At 9 Percent
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey officials say the unemployment rate again saw no change in February, holding steady at 9 percent for a third month in a row.
That's still much higher than the national 8.3 percent rate.
The preliminary numbers are measured by the Bureau of Labor Statistics and were released Thursday by the state Labor Department.
According to the Labor Department, the state added 9,700 new private sector jobs, which were offset by cutting 1,000 public sector jobs.
Revised estimates show that the state added 8,800 jobs in January, down from an initial estimate of 13,300 released last month.
